Year 3

Summer Term 2021

We had a brilliant Sports Day afternoon. We had running races, hopping, jumping and relay races, an egg and spoon race, hurdles, throwing and an obstacle course. The year 3's showed excellent resilience and worked fantastically as a team. Well done year 3s!
We have been enjoying Forest School this half term. The children enjoyed walking bare foot through mud, eating marshmallows, making chocolate bread from the campfire and collecting berries.
In Art, year 3 have enjoyed creating African-style water vases.
der" style="width: 100%;"> Year 3 have enjoyed experimenting with shadows. We enjoyed finding out the pattern of what causes shadows size and position to change.
Linking to our theme of Africa, we enjoyed comparing the weather in Ripon to the weather in Cape Town. We then researched the different seasons in Africa compared to our four seasons in the UK.
In year 3 we had a fantastic trip to Studfold Adventure Trail. We were able to work in teams to find clues which led to a magical fairy forest, we enjoyed learning about the different wildlife and trees, we built dens together and best of all told stories on the enormous giant chair!

We had lots of fun this week in year 3 experimenting playing with some African drums.  We sang and played along with some traditional African songs.
Year 3s had lots of fun making masks inspired by traditional African masks.
We had some very special visitors from Owl Adventures. We enjoyed learning all about the different animals that could be found in Africa to link with our theme for the half term.
This half term in year 3 we have been practicing our computing skills. We have been designing and creating our own pictures of African settings.
Autumn Term 2021
We visited Spa Gardens and we had lots of fun doing a scavenger hunt to find the different signs of Autumn.

In year 3 we practiced our sewing skills by making our very own Christmas puppets.

The children in year 3 enjoyed investigating the quickest way to melt an ice cube.

The year 3 children have been very lucky to be involved in forest schools this term. We have braced the weather and had great fun learning new songs, toasting marshmallows, building dens and jumping in leaves!
